The classic French Chateau is a true sight to behold. If you are visiting France you shouldn't leave without visiting at least one chateau.

The word "chateau" is sometimes translated "castle" but a better translation would be "manor house" or "palace". These chateau are where the royals and aristocracy of France lived in times gone by. Often with immaculately laid out gardens, sumptuous public rooms, richly decorated private spaces and amazing architecture these buildings and their grounds epitomise the French culture of the past. Here are some easy to access chateau around Paris.

Chateau de Vincennes
